Global Citizenship
What does it mean to be a global citizen? Global citizenship is a term used to describe social, environmental, and economic actions taken by individuals and communities that are driven by their shared belief that every person is a citizen of the world.
Why is global citizenship important? A global viewpoint is pivotal to understanding that decisions made on one part of the planet, or by one group of individuals or stakeholders, can affect multiple populations across the world. Looking at our actions through the lens of global citizenship allows us to see that we all share a common humanity; that our individual decisions may have far-reaching impacts, and that all people are of equal dignity, consideration, and worth.
Our Sisterhood documentary aims to encourage global citizenship by showing audiences clear examples of how to engage responsibly and respectfully with other identities and cultures, recognize and challenge stereotypes, explore the complexity of multiple perspectives, use and share our Earth's resources equitably, and uphold the human rights of all people.
After viewing this film, audiences will begin to understand how the scope of social justice extends from their home communities to the whole world; how actions both big and small can ripple outward, grow, and gain strength to create a more just and sustainable planet.
