About the Film

“SISTERHOOD” is a 90-min PBS documentary, chronicling how diverse, inclusive communities of women and girls from six continents are making paradigm-shifting impacts that are changing the trajectory of our planet, while centering gender justice as critical to sustainable development. “SISTERHOOD” narrows its focus to six UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), out of the 17 total SDGs.

By utilizing the SDGs as a storytelling framework, we show how women are working together to solve problems and achieve shared aims from a large, global scale to the granular, local level. This is a film about courageous sisterhoods; only when women work together can we fiercely protect what we love and uplift others in the process. This theme is woven throughout the stories of each SDG and its associated locality, partner organizations, communities, and film participants. "SISTERHOOD" shows how women are creating global, systemic paradigm shifts through their dedication to and passion for a more equitable world.

We have an unshakeable conviction that sustainable development is achievable; we are committed to using our combined talents to inspire audiences to mend the world within their reach.
